15 Week Grades
The grades currently showing on the class website are what will be reported on the Spring Semester's 15 week progress report. I would like to emphasize that time remains for the grades to improve, or conversely, fall.
The final for all of my classroom based periods will be a project, and as such students will have multiple class periods to complete the last assignment of the semester, along with any time at home they wish to devote to the assignment.
In almost every case of a low grade, it is because of missing work. Some students have not undertaken the assignments given. I wish to note that almost every assignment can be turned in up to two weeks late for just a 10% penalty on that assignment. Also, most assignments with a score below 80% can be redone within two weeks of the original due date to attempt a better score.
In Danger of Failing: I use this comment for most grades below a "B" to indicate not that the student will fail the semester, but the possibility does exist. If a student with a grade in the mid to lower ranges were to stop doing their work, failure may follow. All students are asked that regardless of their grade, to attempt all remaining assignments as something may be gained for the future, regardless of the grade today. Additionally, students who have entered my class since the midterm report may have this comment regardless of their grade.
The grades will start to be updated again begining April 26th.
